Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor James Alfred Ewing |
Date | 10 April 1886 |
Description | Has received Ewing's proof, note and letter. Ewing must give up all idea of having his paper issued with the forthcoming part if if he is going to re-call the plates and add notes of such length. The last note Ewing sent involved re-making several pages and caused great delay. The Society expect pages to come in their final form not as rough drafts. Rix will lay Ewing's letter before Lord Rayleigh but thinks the situation quite hopeless. Explains the unequal merit of plates is due to the quantity of figures which has required distribution amongst several hands. Rix fears they cannot get all the plates to equal standard unless Ewing is willing to defer publication until the next part, which will appear in about six months. |
