Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society |
Date | 19 September 1895 |
Description | Rix safely received Harrisons' cheque this morning. Rix hope Evans will call shortly as they have received final notice from both the Gas Company and the Electric Light Company as they have fallen behindhand on payments and it will be awkward to have to fall back on candles. The monthly and quarterly cheques are also awaiting signature. If Evans cannot call Rix asks to know whether he is at Nash Mills so that he can send the cheques for signature.
An important letter from the Foreign Office respecting the International Catalogue has arrived this morning. In Dr Foster's absence in Venice Rix is sending it to Lord Rayleigh [John William Sturtt]. The letter asks whether it is intended that Her Majesty's Government should be officially represented at the Conference. |
