Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Professor Arthur Mason Worthington, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | [26 January 1897] |
Description | Rucker states that he has begun to consider the questions of Series VI, of which Worthington returned two proofs with his letter of 27 December, in which he explained that if no improvement can be made on the earlier proof than he will reluctantly let it pass. Rucker has also heard that there are some notes and suggestions on the proof which was sent to the Direct Photo Company, and at the office they understood him to mean that although he was not quite satisfied, that he would pass the series if these suggestions were attended to.
There is discussion of the reproduction of figures and revisions, with Rucker stating that he has compared the inner right hand figure with a silver print and although the print is slightly clearer, the reproduction seems fair.
A copy of the text will be sent to Worthington, and Rucker hopes that upon inspection he will be happy to keep to his previous comment. In response to Worthington's offer to to pay for revisions, Rucker states that the Council do not usually consent to authors' contributing towards the costs of revising a text for publication, and Rucker believes they are not likely to make an exception in this case. |
