| Description | Professor [William Edward] Ayrton is lecturing at the Society next Wednesday at the annual Soiree and requires the use of alternating current for his experiments.
The Society has written to Mr [William Henry] Preece asking whether cables may be brought from Burlington House Post Office as formerly, if the London Electric Supply Corporation will agree to carry them to the windows. Preece appears to be away from London and Harrison therefore asks if Hookey will give the necessary instruction or permission for the use of the Post Office connection.
The matter is urgent and the Society desires to obtain the cables as soon as possible.
The Society are writing to Mr Bain informing him of this letter and requesting him to put the work in progress at once, subject to Hookey's leave. Asks if Hookey would telephone Bain and the Society propose calling on Bain in the morning to discuss arrangements. |
