| Description | Rucker wrote to Glazebrook regarding the Eclipse Report immediately after receiving it. Afterward he found that Standing Order 47 makes it necessary that a report should go to the appropriate Sectional Committee. Rucker therefore asked the Committee of Papers whether they desired the attention of the Referees to be drawn to the fact that the report is one of a series which has appeared in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' and to request them in making their recommendations to take into account the convenience of publishing such a series in the same form.
In accordance with their directions Rucker encloses a draft which, if it meets with Glazebrook's approval, might be sent with the paper.
As to referees Rucker does not know that there is any grave objection to selecting members of the Eclipse Committee. The more prominent astronomers who are not on the Committee include Ball, Darwin, Lord Cranford, and I Roberts. Rucker wonders what Glazebrook thinks of [using] Abney and Ball. If Glazebrook wishes to see the paper it will be sent to him. |
