Description | With reference to the Under Secretary's letter R. & L. 1377 of 19th August stating that the Government of India has allowed the observing party of the approaching Solar Eclipse to land with their instruments at Bombay without examination by the Government Officials, Rucker is now informed by the Solar Eclipse Committee that it is considered desirable for each of the party to have a certificate to enable them to pass through the Customs house at the place of landing.
Asks if the Under Secretary will grant authorizations or certificates through the customs for the following landing at Bombay; W H M Christie, Professor H H Turner, Mr H F Newall, Captain E H Hills, Dr R Copeland, Mr Macpherson, and landing on the coast at a point near Viziadurg, Sir J N Lockyer and his party. |
