Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Professor G Carey Foster, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 9 January 1899 |
Description | Will likely be in frequent correspondence with Foster now that the latter has become the Chairman of the Phys. and Chem. Sectional Committee.
At the end of last month Ramsay communicated a paper by [Oliver Mason] on an improved method of tracing the movement of the ions by colouring [?]. [R T] Glazebrook and Rucker agreed upon Lodge as a referee. Foster and Ward were named as a second. Asks if will take it.
Has just communicated the paper by S Smith on the [Caplary Electrometic and Electrolyte] phenomena measured. It was begun in J J Thomson's laboratory and Rucker thinks that he would suit as a referee.
Asks if will suggest a name when has seen the paper and whether approves of Thomson.
[Postscript] There is also a ['Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society] paper by Karl Pearson and Miss Lee, "On the Vibrations in the Field Round a Theoretical Hertzian Oscillator". Thinks that Fitzgerald and Anderson Gray would be good referees. |
