| Description | Is much obliged for Ayrton's letter concerning the electric lighting installation and has sent out notices for the selecting of the House Committee on Tuesday next to receive Ayrton's report on the subject. Is glad Ayrton is inclined to postpone the work until next year and notes it would be an enormous inconvenience and the Treasurer [Alfred Bray Kempe] and Professor [Arthur William] Rucker are both strongly in favour of postponing the work until next year. Hopes the House Committee will confirm this view.
Notes that if Ayrton can have the old fashioned switches replaced with tumbler switches this would be a desirable thing to do at once.
Ayrton's letter is the first intimation he has had of any change in the method of supplying current from the St James' and Pall Mall Company, and shall be glad to have information as to the nature of the change.
As a postscript Harrison notes he has received Ayrton's note about summoning a meeting and thinks summonses issued on Monday should give ample notice of a meeting on the 17th. |
