Description | Sends thanks for their letter of 5 May, and explains that he now believes that he understands the cause of their slight misunderstanding.
As Dr Robert Lendlmayer von Lendenfeld did not quote Rix's exact words when placing the order for his plates, it was perhaps unclear that they did not need the extra copies. Also, until Rix received their letter, he did not notice the miscalculation in their account. Finally, Rix believes that the mistake regarding paper size arose as he was not sufficiently clear that the measurements were to be taken around the extremity of the figure. Rix emphasises that his objection is not just that the paper is too large, but that the figures themselves reach the edges of the book and so cannot be trimmed as suggested. As Rix had previously explained, they have decided to print the text on larger paper to overcome the difficulty.
Rix recognises their efforts, and notes that the difficulties of correspondence have given rise to most of the problems. |
