Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to William Abbott Herdman, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 12 March 1900 |
Description | Most of Pearson's papers have gone to the Mathematical Committee, the Zoological Committee has dealt with very few of them. The enclosed [not enclosed] is for the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' only and Rucker should have accepted it on his own responsibility had it not been for its 'controversial character'. Thinks they should accept the paper but suggests what should be done first.
Since writing the above Rucker has seen the enclosed letter from Forsyth [not enclosed] concerning a paper which was before Herdman's Committee not that long ago and was passed for the '[Philosophical] Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. Pearson then wrote asking to rewrite with improved theory. This he did sending the paper in two parts, one mainly mathematical, one mainly biological. The first part is before the Mathematical Committee. Rucker agrees with Forysth that the second part should go to Herdman or Council direct. The original referees were [Francis] Galton and [George Howard] Darwin. Does not know when Galton will return but they might use [Walter Frank Raphael] Weldon with Galton as second referee. |
