| Title | Copy letter from Sir Michael Foster, to The Secretary to H M Treasury |
| Date | 23 January 1901 |
| Description | Some questions have arisen in the matter of the Antarctic Expedition in reference to the owners of the ship 'Discovery'.
In a letter the Royal Society agreed to the Royal Geographical Society becoming owners of the ship on certain conditions. A reply has been received, and the President and Council are disposed to agree to the conditions therein, it being understood that any portion of a possible balance alloted to them would be returned to the Government Grant Fund. Before formally agreeing, they would like the view of the Treasury on the matter. |
