Date | 7 June 1901 |
Description | As representatives of the Royal Society on the Executive Committee of the National Antarctic Expedition, Foster and Rucker write to inform them what action the officers are proposing to the Council to the situation brought about by the resignation of Professor Gregory. They propose that the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society appoint Dr G Murray of the British Museum as Director of Civilan Scientific Staff.
It is intended that Murray should not proceed with the ship to the ice, he will leave the ship at Melbourne and carry out duties of Director in a manner hereafter determined. Along with Commander Scott he will make appointments in the Civilian/Scientific Staff as necessary. |
