| Description | When Geikie proposed £20 a month for Bernacchi, he had no idea he'd only be working two or three days a week on the magnetic work, when he meant was that his whole time should be given. Presumes Bernacchi got the idea from the 'Discovery' naturalists at the British Museum who are paid £1, but only for some three days a week. If Bernacchi would come for a month or two, so Glazebrook could get all the information he needs, he could be paid £30 a month for that limited time. The £400 mentioned in a previous letter referred to the limit of the Royal Society's spending. |
