| Description | The Society has at last heard from the Colonial and Foreign Office regarding the proposed conference on Sleeping Sickness. The Society is writing to the Foreign Office that they suggest the meeting be held there, any day except Thursday, before 15 March.
[David] Bruce writes that as C J Martin is going to India on plague business it would be well if the Society had another bacteriologist in his place on the Malta-Fever sub-committee. Bruce suggests Dr Eyre, bacteriologist at Gray's Hospital. If Lankester agrees Eyre can be summoned to the next Malta-Fever sub-committee.
Lankester will today have received as referee the manuscript of a paper by Bastian. Thinks considering the age and standing of the author he is entitled to some consideration from the Society, even if the paper is nonsense. Harrison would allow the paper to be read and leave it as usual to the Committee to decide whether or not it should be printed. Does not agree with Weldon that it would be a 'misfortune for the Society' if this paper were read. |
