| Description | In reply to the President's communication of 18 March, in which he requests a statement of the position of the affairs of the Seismological Committee so far as Britain is concerned, Geikie encloses a copy of a letter addressed by the Royal Society to the Foreign Office stating the conditions on which the President and Council of the Society recommend that the British Government should join the International Seismological organization [not enclosed]. Amongst these conditions is one that the amendments in the constitution of that organization proposed and unanimously adopted by the Seismic Committee of the International Association of Academies at their meeting in October 1904, be accepted, and the convention of July 1903 amended accordingly. Presumes the report of the Seismic Committee will be laid before the first meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies. If the Council approve the report the Directing Academy will no doubt take an early opportunity of communicating the Council's approval to the Bureau of the International Seismic organization with a view to the amendment of the Convention. |
