Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Professor Richard Tetley Glazebrook, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 8 November 1906 |
Description | Has examined the specimen Glazebrook sent of the stone employed in constructing the new Magnetic Observatory in Eskdale. It is undoubtedly a piece of one of the basaltic dykes which traverse the south of Scotland, all of which contain more or less magnetic iron. Does not know if the magnetic properties of the stone can be compensated for in the arrangement of the instruments. |
