| Description | Rix has this morning read Professor Armstrong's two letters. Before Rix looks up the cases of the title of Fellow of the Royal Society being improperly used he wishes to ask some advice. Where this has occurred it has mostly been a case of a misprint, or an alleged misprint. There was the case of a schoolmaster at Dulwich who was an FRS Tasmania who left out the Tasmania, but he apologised. A case occurred this week of an advertising hair restorer. Rix wrote a severe letter and the gentleman has sent an apology stating that he thought the author of his pamphlet, who is dead, was an FRS, and he will withdraw the title.
Rix asks if the letter about the Jubilee is to be answered. He encloses a letter from Professor Williamson [not attached] and hopes Foster will jump at the offer of letting anyone else draw the plates as Williamson's own plates are in the opinion of many, a disgrace.
As a postscript Rix notes a difficulty in the statues regarding making any addition to a certificate after it has been signed. |
