TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor George Chrystal, Secretary of the Roual Society of Edinburgh
Date23 October 1909
DescriptionMr Stewart has sent Chrystal's enquiry regarding confidential details in connection with the Royal Society's rooms. Harrison informs him that the Royal Society does not charged Inhabited House Duty in respect of its whole house, being exempted from that tax under an Act of, he thinks, George II. The leading case on the matter is one decided some years ago in the matter of the Institution of Civil Engineers. However a charge is made on a nominal assessment of the rooms Harrison occupies, and those of the housekeeper.
