Description | Rix apologises for having left Dannatt's note of 30 April unanswered for so long, but he explains that he was waiting to have the spare time to compare the seal with various portraits of Sir Isaac Newton in the Royal Society's possession.
However, having now made the comparison, they do not believe the head on her seal to be Newton's; unfortunately, they have no suggestions as to an alternative. Rix further notes that the difference with Newton is too great to support the belief that it could be his head, and neither is there anything on the reverse of the seal to support the belief. |
