Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Professor [Hugh Longbourne] Callendar, Chairman of the Physics and Chemistry Committee and FRS |
Date | 2 May 1916 |
Description | 'Paper by R. A. Houston on the Theory of Colour Vision Lord Rayleigh, to whom this paper was referred, is in favour of publication in the Proceedings. His criticism is as follows : - "In a certain sense the observed 3-fold chracter of colour is explained. But in view of the accuracy with which colour differences can be perceived, (the colours of the two D-lines can be distinguished when properly presented) I should have expected that upon the author's views colour vision would be 4,5, or 6-fold." Will the Chairman please say whether the paper should now go forward under Standing Order 43.' |
