| Description | Advises that the Indian Government Advisory Committee met on 6 January with Sir David Prain, FRS, taking the Chair in the absence of Sir Thomas Holland, who is currently in India. The Comittee unanimously resolved that in response to the Secretary of State's letter of 4 December ( R and R 1818) that there were both advantages and disadvantages to continuing publication in England or transfering to the Zoological Survey of India. The transfer might stimulate Zoological activity in India, but they feel it would be regretable if as a result the field from which authors of monographs are chosen were narrowed, 'for it is important that the systematists should be selected solely with regard to their efficiency, wherever they may be found.' |
