Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to the Lord Rayleigh [Robert John Strutt], Chairman of the Physics Committee and FRS |
Date | 4 May 1922 |
Description | Writes to the Lord Rayleigh on several matters, namely: the possibility of passing [Charles] Chrees' 'The 27-day period (interval) in terrestrial magnetism', [Frank Edward] Smith's 'On an electromagentic method for the measurement of the horizontal intensity of the earth's magnetic field' and E. T. Paris' 'On doubly-resonated hot-wire microphones' under Standing Order 43. Also informs of five new papers that they have received: [Charles Herbert] Lees' 'The thermal stresses in solid and in hollow circular cylinders concentrically heated', [John Cunningham] McLennan's 'On the excitation of characteristic x-rays from light elements', S. Marsh and A. E. Evans' 'On measurements of electrode potential drop with direct current and alternating current electrolysis', N. K. Adam's 'The properties and molecular structure of thin films' parts two and three. Asks what should be done with each. |
