TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Eyre & Spottiswoode, Binding Department, Printer Street, E.C.
Date14 February 1894
DescriptionWith reference to his memorandum of the previous day, Rix notes that they have now located the missing instructions about binding the Rome Memoirs, which when returned were put in the wrong book. They do not think Eyre & Spottiswoode were justified in interpreting the instruction to "treat handsomely" to mean binding in whole morocco, and further that"chose tasteful side papers"should have indicated that half-morocco was meant. Further, he states that an instruction for the edges "not to be marbled" is not the same as requesting that the edges be gilt.

Rix wishes to know what reduction they propose to make in their charge.
