TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, [Royal Society]
Date16 December 1893
DescriptionRix states that he had a letter from the Pitt Press in response to his asking them what capital they required to accumulate in the way of slips, in order to carry out the resolution of the Catalogue Committee requesting that they supply 10 sheets per month. He has talked their response over with Miss Chambers, and they are quite clear as to what to do. She will increase the speed of work to attempt to reach the margin of 2000 which they require, and then keep pace with the 10 sheets per month.

Rix now has a clear idea of the situation, namely that she only has one worker who she trusts with the editing, and she needs two. Their new assistant, Miss Turner, will begin work on 1 January and seems very capable. She will work with Miss Walker and he hopes they will keep pace, though Walker is due to leave the Royal Society early the following year. They will recruit someone else to ensure two are at work on the editing.

He notes that unfortunately they have already sent Ferrier & Turner to Mr Langley, and asks if Foster can get it back. Risien Russell's manuscript will be sent to Dr Sherrington, the other referee.
