| Description | Rayleigh explains that the referees who considered his paper recommend that it should appear in 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' with its illustrations, though they should be rough representations on a small scale, so as to be inexpensive. If the paper were to be rewritten and more trouble taken about the illustrations, it could be improved.
The referees suggest that the apparatus figure 182 should be on the same scale as drawn, every tenth number along the side should be sufficient, and the time readings at the top may be in minutes rather than seconds, with the exception of figure 6. Futher, it was pointed out that the discrepancy with [Charles Smart] Roy and [Charles Scott] Sherrington depends on the observers having dealt with distinct things, as they worked with a mano-metric capsule which was just able to show the pulse, and never applied pressure likely to injure the brain. Rayleigh suggests that Levy point out this distinction if he agrees, and let them know if he will consent to the suggestions. |
