Other content includes articles on spiritualism (pp.23-31, 'A spirit medium'), court reporting, and accounts of external meetings, including of the Society for the Abolition of Vivisection. State aid to science and the merits of the Royal Society's Government Grant are debated (pp.41-47, pp.59-61). Letters to the editors of the various newspapers are also collected.
Generally, the cuttings are attributed to the source newspaper and dated in manuscript. The volume contains several blank pages. A paper label on the cover is inscribed: 'Scraps. Biographical. February 24 1875 to May 14 1877'. 'Biographical' has been scored through in pencil, reflecting the more omniverous nature of the content. |
