The volume contains some obituaries and death notices, including: Joseph Larmor (p.2); Andrew Russell Forsyth (p.6); William Henry Young (p.38); and George Gerald Henderson (p.71).
Cuttings also give accounts of the Royal Society's meetings and events. Other content includes scientific contributions to the war effort, throughout; and notices of contemprary scientific developments. Specific topics are: the presentation of the Charles Vignoles snuff-box to the Royal Society (p.23, pp.29-30); 'soap bubble' portrait of Charles Vernon Boys (p.65); Newton Tercentenary (pp.75-77) and the purchase of Woolsthorpe Manor (pp.89-113, 116-118).
These cuttings are attached to printed labels noting the source journal and are generally date stamped. A paper label on the cover is inscribed: 'June 1942-Jan 1943.' |
