DescriptionBrief listing of exhibits and exhibitors at the Royal Society's annual displays at Burlington House, London, with descriptive text. Arranged by rooms, Rooms 1-6 and Meeting Room. Commencing with notes that guests would be received by the President [Howard Florey], that a film would be shown during the evening and an acknowledgement that 'By the courtesy of the President and Council of the Geological Society, their rooms have been opened for this occasion'. The catalogue of exhibits begins with a disclaimer: 'The descriptions of exhibits in this catalogue are supplied by the exhibitors, who alone are responsible for their accuracy'.

Room 1:

1. The optical maser, exhibited by Dr. J.M. Burch, Mr. J.W.C. Gates and Mr. R.W.E. Cook, National Physical Laboratory, Middlesex.
2. 'Organised elements' in the Orgueil meteorite, exhibited by Dr. M.H. Hey and Mr. R. Ross, British Museum (Natural History).

6. Recent research on trachoma, exhibited by Dr. L.H. Collier, Mrs. Shiona Sowa, Mr. J. Sowa and Dr. W. Blyth, M.R.C. Trachoma Research Unit, and Dr. J.A. Armstrong, Dr. R.C. Valentine, Miss Celia Fildes and Dr. Janet S.F. Niven, National Institute for Medical Research, London.

Room 3 (Reception Room):

The Mace of the Royal Society presented by King Charles II in 1663.
The Charter Book of the Royal Society which contains the signatures of the Royal Patrons and of the Fellows of the Society.
Gifts received on the occasion of the Tercentenary and a selection of the Tercentanary congratulatory addresses.

12. Genesis De Novo of organelles in the egg of the fern Pteridium aquilinum, exhibited by Mr. P.R. Bell, Botany Department, University College, London, and Professor Dr. K. Muhlethaler, Laboratorium fur Elektronenmikroskopie, Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule, Zurich.
