DescriptionIncludes correspondence regarding Bowden's spell in Whitehall, material on his subsequent educationist activities and his attempts to interest Hanbury Brown in a chair at UMIST and the position of Vice-Chancellor of Salford University. Also includes material on the Pioneer Awards of the American Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers for Bowden's contributions to the development of secondary radar systems.

Bowden was Minister of State in the Department of Education under the Wilson government 1964-1965, from where he returned to his position as Principal of UMIST.
