AdminHistoryRobin Milner was born near Plymouth in 1934. He had a scholarship to Eton College and served in the Royal Engineers before enrolling at Kings College Cambridge, graduating in 1957. He worked for Ferranti International PLC as a programmer, before taking up a teaching position at City University, London. He co-founded Edinburgh University's Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science in 1973, and returned to Cambridge in 1995 to head up the Computer Laboratory.
