Robinson was a director of Petrochemicals Ltd, which was taken over by Shell Chemical Company. After his retirement, Robinson became a director of this company and carried out scientific research in their laboratory in Egham, Surrey.

The series includes material relating to Robinson's research for Shell, as well as his attencance at company conferences and meetings. The research papers include matrial relaing to a collaborative project with CIBA (Chemische Industrie Basel) on carcinostatic and anti-leukaemia compounds and prophylactics.
