TitleLetter from Archibald Geikie, on a paper 'Mechanical and electrical response in plants' by Jagadis Chunder Bose to Edward Waymouth Reid
Date23 May 1904
DescriptionSectional Committee: [Botany and Physiology]

Reid's report on Professor [Jagadis Chunder] Bose's paper [Mechanical and Electrical Response in Plants], has been considered by the Physiological Committee. Geikie is instructed to return the report and ask for further opinion in light of the following: Bose has previously published in the 'Journal of the Linnean Society' a paper on the same subject; the statements in both papers are essentially a repetition and development of statements previously made by another investigator, Augustus Desire Waller. As it is possible the papers referred to Reid were not known to him at the time he reported, Geikie is enclosing Bose's paper, the Linnean paper, and copies of two of Dr Waller's previously published papers. Also encloses a typed comparative summary of the three papers drawn up by Dr Waller [no attachments]. Asks for all these to be returned with a statement regarding the publication of Bose's paper.
