Title | Letter from Balfour Stewart, to George Gabriel Stokes, regarding two papers 'Researches on solar physics. Heliographical positions and areas of sun-spots observed with the Kew photoheliograph during the years 1862 and 1863' and 'Researches on solar physics.—No. II. The positions and areas of the spots observed at Kew during the years 1864, 1865, 1866, also the spotted area the sun's visible disk from the commencement of 1832 up to May 1868' by Warren De La Rue, Balfour Stewart and Benjamin Loewy |
Date | 5 July 1865 |
Description | Has received George Gabriel Stoke's letter of the 26 June 1865, regarding the decision of the Royal Society on the printing of the two papers. Has bee in communication with Warren De La Rue, and jointly suggest publishing detailed observations of their future investigations into sunspots elsewhere, while the 'well ascertained results' communicated to the Royal Society, and published in the Philosophical Transactions if met with approval. For this suggestion, the two papers under consideration, especially the first, would form the first part of such a series of publications.
