Title | Second letter from Frederick Guthrie, to George Gabriel Stokes, regarding a paper 'On the thermal resistance of liquids' by Frederick Guthrie |
Date | 3 August 1869 |
Description | Has received three letters from George Gabriel Stokes and the referees, giving suggestions without comment. Wishes Stokes would put himself in the author's place, as regards implementing the suggestions, some of which he finds quite valuable. Suggests 'half an hour's conversation would have cleared away some misunderstandings'. Would prefer Stokes to add the footnote to the paper, as the author still feels he does not understand the scope of the referee's misunderstanding. Is happy to leave the issue of the 'dotted lines' to the opinion of Stokes. Asks Stokes to postpone responding until he is finished with his more pressing matters.
