TitleLetter from J [James] Gray to A V [Archibald Vivian] Hill, regarding a paper 'The comparative behaviour of mammalian eggs in vivo and in vitro. II. The development of fertilized and artificially activated rabbit eggs' by G [George] Pincus
CreatorGray; Sir James (1891-1975); British zoologist
RecipientHill; Archibald Vivian (1886-1977); British physiologist
Date5 December 1938
DescriptionPaper reference code: B.43

Notes that his accompanying report [see RR/W/7/26] is not very favourable. If Picus is correct that 'there was no possiblity of spermatozoa being present in the two instances where fully formed young were produced' then his claims may be valid. However the circumstances of failure in the other 14 cases mean 'the whole experiment becomes quite useless'. Suggests [Alan Sterling] Parkes is asked to review the main claim of the paper, and that the author should remove some of the photographs to make it more concise.
