Bill Gordon should run the Arecibo facility, but co-operation is required if Gold is to build up resources at Ithaca for radio astronomy. Secondly, the faculty members are voluntary, and they could resign if they saw no advantages in their continued association with the programme. Gold is trying to settle the relationship with Gordon and matters are being discussed which would affect recruitment. Bracewell is coming as a Visiting Professor in the Astronomy Department. |
