TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Mr Gibor S Basri, Box 2961, Stanford, California
Date22 February 1973
DescriptionThanks him for his letter. Does not think that it is clear from what he said that the particles will be captured onto the planet or into circumplanetary orbits - and of course that is the major question in deciding whether satellites can be built this way. Asks him to study the paper by T A Lyttelton that discusses a 'capture radius'. Hopes he gains entry at Cornell, but this is in the hands of their admissions committee and will depend on their decision.
