Description | States that their mutual friend Walter Munk suggested God should write to Frosch, and Frosch's views expressed in 'Physics Today' prompted him to do so.
Frosch may know Gold was an active campaigner for the early NASA programs, a member for ten years and sometime chairman of the Space Panel of PSAC, a member of the NASA Lunar and Planetary Missions Board throughout its existence. He then came to be regarded, quite erroneously, as an enemy of NASA, because he testified several times before Senator Mondale's and various other Senate committees against the Shuttle - and in favour of the applications programs. Gold sees now with great pleasure that the large divergence of views has disappeared. He knows that Mr Mondale's views are by no means opposed to sensible space programs - as was sometime said - and Gold is sure Mondale would back good applications programs now.
Is enclosing an article he may publish on 'The promise of space'.
Asks him to call on Gold if his enthusiasm appears to be of any us to the present NASA programs. |
