TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to The Hon Senator Edward Kennedy, Joint Economic Committee, Subcommittee on Energy, Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington DC
Date13 April 1978
DescriptionGold is enclosing a copy of a statement for the press of the report prepared for the American Geophysical Union meeting (Miami Beach, April 17). Gold hopes to spur the Department of Energy into action, but so far his information is that a rather negative view is taken there, because, as expected, the established experts in the field regard this as heresy.

Gold regards his thesis as very firm now, and considers that a very large effort should be undertaken, much larger than he can arrange, and that this would hold out by far the best promise of preventing a serious fuel shortage in a few years. The greatest problem at this stage is all the experts who have advised differently over the years, and before the present information was available.
