TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Sir Hermann Bondi, East House, Buckland Corner, Reigate Heath, Surrey, England
Date22 April 1978
DescriptionStates has not heard from him for a long time, and wonders how the world is treating him.

Some time ago Gold had sent a long typewritten paper which concerned itself, among other things, with the global supply of fuels. They are by now really convinced that the basic story is correct, and this changes completely the outlook for the future. Gold knows the geologists don't like it, so there is no need for Bondi to ask for their advice; certainly he does not need the advice of the fellow who told the British Government some years ago that he would drink every cup of oil that was got out of the North Sea. Gold assumes he is dead by now, having died of diarrhea.

They are planning a major line of work on all the many aspects of this; fuel, earthquake prediction, evolution of the atmosphere etc. They will endeavour to have a global satellite system monitoring, by infra-red sensing, any regional variations of atmospheric methane. States this will be good for earthquake prediction and also for finding good regions to drill.

Gold will be in Europe May 30 to June 15 or so. He could come and give a lecture on all this to the Ministry for Energy or whatever the name of Bondi's outfit is. Asks him to give some attention to this subject; Gold thinks it will be the way out of the energy problem.
