TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Mr Lars Gabrielsson, Bofinkstigen 9, S-703 48 Orebro, Sweden
Date7 August 1978
DescriptionThanks him for his interesting letter. Gold has read of other instances where people appear to have recognized some gas-related precursors of earthquakes; especially in China, there appears to be some understanding of the 'Earth gas' that comes from the ground prior to an earthquake. In Hai-Cheng the effect was extreme - see enclosed New York Times description.

They have by now a great many items strongly supporting the general thesis, but of course they were glad to have the acount of Gabrielsson's experience. Gold would love to go round Turkey and interrogate keepers off towers, but doesn't feel he can spare the time or money, but he will keep it in mind.
