TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to The Honorable Langhorne Bond, Federal Aviation Administration Administrator, 800 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington DC
Date24 February 1978
DescriptionStates that following their telephone conversation following the National plane flame-out, he is sending a preprint of their article on the East Coast explosions.

Having followed up on the National Airlines investigation, he considers there is a possibility the near accident was indeed caused by flying through a plume of gas; but on present evidence one cannot tell.

Has been able to stimulate the setting up of more listening stations in the hope of locating the areas more precisely. Hre supposses that Bond is aware that very massive airborne explosins are occurring in the Charleston S.C. region and in Nova Scotia. Whatever one thinks of their origin, their magnitude leaves no doubt that they represent an aircraft hazard.
