Description | Says that the Consul General in New York sent him Gold's letter, dated 29 March 1958, along with the papers Gold had left. The papers concerned the campaign to elect Nehru Chancellor of Cambridge University. He has read the papers and says that it was good of Gold to send them to him. He says that he is now aware of the amount of effort Gold took over the campaign and, consequently, feels a little guilty that he caused all that trouble for Gold. He finishes by saying that he is satisfied that his decision not to stand for election was the right one as it would have been an embarrassment to him whether he had won or lost the election. The letter has been signed by Nehru. |
