The letters and faxes cover various matters e.g. valuation of an academic’s scientific works (383); arrangements for a visit by a Chinese academic (379); Gold's views on a letter containing 34 signatures, which was sent to the Director of the US Geological Survey, asking him to arrange for the withdrawal of all copies of ‘The future of energy gases - US Professional Paper 1570’, which contained Gold’s article, ‘The origin of methane in the crust of the earth’. The letter alleged that Gold had swindled the Swedes out of millions of dollars via a project to drill for gas and oil in the Siljan Ring, Sweden, which he was involved in (376-378). The letters, faxes and articles have been numbered by Gold or a secretary from 361 to 369 and from 371 to 390 (there is no 370 and it is not clear if there ever was one).
