The letters, faxes and e-mails cover various matters e.g. Gold questioning the need for another space shuttle in a letter to the Editor of the New York Times (1018); radiation pressure (1002). The files also contain an uncorrected copy of a memoir on Fred Hoyle that was to appear in ‘Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the Royal Society’, Vol 49, 2003 (no number), and faxes between Gold, Geoffrey Steinherz and Dr Helmut Böttiger regarding the publication of a German edition of 'The deep hot biosphere'. Steinherz was publishing the book and Dr Böttiger had agreed to translate the book into German (numbered 134 and 934. These faxes may originally have been filed in TG/2/47, which also contains e-mails and faxes numbered 934). The letters, faxes and e-mails have been numbered by Gold or a secretary from 991 to 1020. They are not indexed and were originally stored in a hanging file. |
