TitleLetter from Fife Symington, Governor, State of Arizona, to Thomas Gold
Date21/06/1995
DescriptionThanks him for writing regarding the new law lifting the ban on chlorofluorocarbons in the state of Arizona. His belief that federal mandates like the Clean Air Act, which outlawed CFC's, often serve to do little more than interfere in state responsibilities to keep the air clean, and Arizona's people should have the authority to make decisions about Arizona's environment. Irresponsible theories about the ozone layer are no excuse to deprive people of necessary technology. For instance, many asthma patients require inhalant medication which uses CFC's. Feels this new law sends a strong message to the federal government that their ban on chlorofluorcarbons in Arizona is unjustified and unwanted. In passing this bill, the Legislature is representing the people of Arizona who are sicjk and tired of bad science and big government managing their lives.
