Description | Gosse describes the 'thread-cells' or 'cnidae' of the Actiniidae, which 'are found in various tissues of the body, but are specially localized in two sets of organs'. He goes on to describe the anatomy, physiology and 'toxicoferous armature' of the Actiniidae.
Includes three pages of figures of Actiniidae and the cells of their 'poison-apparatus'. Marked on front as 'Archives'.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 9 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Researches on the poison-apparatus in the actiniadae'. |
