Description | Barton seeks to continue the work that Isaac Newton began on the inflection of light, recounting his experiments to this effect. Barton deduces that light is composed of material particles which obey the laws of elastic fluids due to repulsive powers. Includes six separate pages of figures.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 3 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'On the inflexion of light'.
