DescriptionBianchi, Director of the Royal Observatory of Modena [Italy], proposes the construction of a new sidereal catalogue, accompanied with a graphic representation of all the stars visible within the field of view at each observation, by means of the meridian transit of the most conspicuous stars across the field of a telescope of four inches aperture, attached to a three-feet circle.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 3 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'Plan et essai d’un nouveau catalogue Sidéral, avec une réprésentation graphique, et une loi de simple et régulière distribution des étoiles autour du Pole, qui pourra fournir plusieurs avantages à l’Astronomie pratiques'.
