DescriptionTwo small diagrams showing the reservoir system described by Robinson in the second stage of his third experiment into the absorbing power of steams. In the diagrams, a long horizontal pipe connected laterally to a reservoir has been partially closed. The diagrams show the flow of fluid from the reservoir once bubbles of air have been introduced to the horizontal pipe, and the relative extent of the space within which each jet of fluid oscillates.
